Cancellation Rules:

• Cancellations made after cancellation date and time (car rental location time zone) are non refundable. Please refer to the Manage Your Rewards page in the Your Aeroplan section.
• Cancellations must be processed through the Manage Your Rewards page
• No Shows are non refundable.
• Availability is subject to limits set by car rental company
• Aeroplan is not responsible any injury or death resulting from car rental rewards in conjunction with the Redemption program
• Top-up miles are non refundable at cancellation. Miles will be credited to member’s account.
• Member is responsible for all surcharges, insurance, optional equipment at rental location on his credit card.

Taxes:

• Mileage covers the cost of basic car rental rate plan and all applicable taxes.
• No mileage refunds will be given for early drop-off.
• Rewards are transferable (this statement has to be rephrased). The driver’s name must be provided at time of booking on aeroplan.com. A valid credit card in the driver’s name must be presented at pick-up to guarantee against any additional charges. Renter must have a valid driver’s licence. Age restrictions may apply if driver is younger than 25.
• Aeroplan miles will not be awarded when car rental is booked through Aeroplan Redemption Program
• Member must comply with the car rental’s Terms & Conditions
  

Rental Period:

• The minimum rental period is 1 day
  

Standard Qualifications:

• Minimum/Maximum Age: 21/None. Minimum age may vary by location
• Renter must meet Avis age, drive and credit requirements. An additional daily surcharge may apply for renters under 25 years old.
• Additional drivers must be 25 years of age.
• Avis reserves the right to refuse any request for rental, including requests for persons under age, persons not in possession of a recognized full and valid driver's license, persons unable to satisfy credit or cash requirements, or persons who, in the opinion of Avis, constitutes a risk.

Mileage/KMS Charge:

• Rates for car groups A-G include free unlimited kilometres. Rentals must be returned to renting city.
• Rates for cars V,W, L, H offer 200 free kilometres per day, additional kilometres at $0.25 per km.
  

Renter's Liability:

• Avis provides statutory limits of liability insurance as shown on the rental agreement at time of rental. The Avis renter is responsible for all damage or theft of the Avis vehicle subject to certain exclusions contained in the Avis rental agreement. For an additional fee, Avis will waive or limit the renter’s liability through the purchase of a Loss Damage Waiver at the time of rental. Please call 1-800-321-3652 for additional information.

Final Settlement Methods:

• A cash deposit or an Avis-honoured credit card will be required at time of checkout for any other charges not included in the rental, e.g., gasoline, Loss Damage Waiver, Personal Accident Insurance, One-Way service Fees and Taxes.

• Vehicle types are given as examples. We reserve the right to vary type of car without notice but will make every effort to honor specific car model requests. All car groups may not be available at all locations

Participating Locations:

• Available at all Avis participating locations in Canada.

Rates Do Not Include The Following:

• Services such as Additional Driver fee, Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), Additional Liability Insurance (ALI), Personal Effects Protection (PEP) are payable by the renter directly at the rental counter.

Fuel Service:

• A fuel service charge will be incurred if a car is returned with less fuel than when it was rented.

One-way rental fees:

When available for selected pick-up/drop-off location, one-way rental fees apply and will be charged on member’s credit card at time of rental.

Members must call Avis at 1-800-879-2847 at time of reservations to obtain the applicable one-way fee charges and taxes, if one-way rental is available for the selected pick-up/drop-off locations.

For rentals in Canada, one-way rentals are currently available only for the following pick-up/drop-off locations (note that these locations are subject to change from time to time):

Members must call Avis at 1-800-879-2847 at time of reservations to obtain the applicable one-way fee charges and taxes, if one-way rental is available for the selected pick-up/drop-off locations.

One-way rental fees:

• When available for a selected pick-up/drop-off location, one-way rental fees apply and will be charged on the member’s credit card at the time of rental.

Child Safety Seats:

• $8 per day up to a maximum of $50 per rental. The renter will be charged the cost of the child safety seat for a lost seat, or one which is not returned at the termination of the rental.

• The minimum charge period is 1 day.

• Renters must present a valid driver's license.
• A credit card is required as a deposit to cover any additional costs incurred by the renters over and above the reward value. The final amount due is calculated and deducted post-rental.
• Car Classes A, B, C, D, F, G, I, R, U and L include free unlimited kilometers at participating locations. Prestige Car Classes H4, H6, I6, P, T, T4 and W4 include 100 free kilometers per day for daily rentals and 1400 free kilometers per week for weekly rentals. Extra miles will be payable at the counter at a rate of CAD $0.25/mile.
• Car rentals offer limited kilometers in Newfoundland, Whitehorse and Jasper.
• Optional equipment: Availability and cost per day for optional equipment (such as child seats, NeverLost, and Ski Racks) varies by location. Please check Hertz for applicable fees and availability.
• Optional services such as Additional Authorized Driver, Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), and Personal Effects Coverage (PEC) are payable by the renter directly at the rental counter
• Car upgrade: If client, at the commencement of his or her rental, requests to rent a car from a higher car class than that reserved, such an upgrade may be allowed at an additional charge if a car from that higher class is available at the time the rental commences. Any such upgrade will be charged at locally applicable rates.
• When available for selected pick-up/drop-off location, one-way rental fees apply and will be charged on member’s credit card at time of rental. Members must call Hertz 1-800-263-0600 at time of reservations to obtain the applicable one-way fee charges and taxes, if one-way rental is available for the selected pick-up/drop-off locations.

• Minimum rental age is 25 years, in all states except for Florida, where the minimum age is 21. In Florida, Renters age 21-24 will be subject to a surcharge of US$20.00 per day
• A credit card is required as a deposit to cover any additional costs incurred by the renters over and above those already prepaid for. The final amount due is calculated and deducted post-rental.
• Renters must present a valid driver's license.
• Car Classes A, B, C, D, F, G, I, R, U and L include free unlimited mileage. Prestige Car Classes H4, H6, I6, P, T, T4 and W4 include 100 free miles per day for daily rentals and 700 free miles per week for weekly rentals. Extra miles will be payable at the counter at a rate of US$0.29/mile.
• Optional equipment: Availability and cost per day for optional equipment (such as child seats, NeverLost, and Ski Racks) varies by location. Please check at time of reservation for applicable fees and availability.

• A minimum of three days is required for rentals in Europe.
• A vehicle Licensing Fee is applied to all rentals in Europe and will be charged to the member at the Hetz counter.

• Renters must present a valid national driver's license.
• One-way rentals in Europe are not permitted on aeroplan.com. The member must call Hertz Reservations at 1-800-263-0600 to obtain availability and make his reservation.
• Optional equipment: Availability and cost per day for optional equipment (such as child seats, NeverLost, and Ski Racks) varies by location. Please check at time of reservation for applicable fees and availability.
• Optional services such as Additional Authorized Driver, Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), Personal Accident Insurance (PAI), Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS) and Personal Effects Coverage (PEC) are payable by the renter directly at the rental counter.

1. CURRENCY:
   Canadian Dollar (CAD)


2. MINIMUM AGE:
   Minimum age is twenty-one (21) years, except where provincial law provides otherwise. In the province of Newfoundland, the minimum rental age for all rentals is 25 years old.


3. UNDERAGE FEE:
   In all provinces, the minimum age requirement for all drivers is 21 (except in the Province of Newfoundland, where it is 25). A fee of $25.00 CAD per day, per driver is required for drivers between the ages of 21 and 25. This fee is paid locally by the traveler at the time of rental.All drivers must possess a valid driver’s license, major credit card and prepaid voucher.


4. ADDITIONAL DRIVER FEE:
   An additional driver fee of $10.00 CAD or less per day, per additional driver will apply, except where provincial law provides otherwise.


5. ADDITIONAL DRIVER REQUIREMENTS:
   All additional drivers must show a valid driver’s license and valid credit card issued in their name at the time of rental.


6. INFANT SEAT:
   Fees of $6.99 CAD per day, per infant seat with a $50.00 CAD deposit. Infant seats should be requested at the time of reservation.


7. SEATBELTS and CHILD RESTRAINT SEATS:
   Provincial laws require the use of seatbelts and child-restraint seats. Seatbelts and child-restraint seats can save lives. We urge you to use them. To avoid serious injury or even death, use child-restraint seats only in the back seat of the vehicle. Older children who do not use child-restraint seats should ride properly buckled-up in the back seat.


8. DRIVING AREAS:
   Vehicles can be driven in any province in Canada but must be returned to the location from which they were rented or drop-off charges will apply. Vehicles may not be driven into Mexico. Vehicles are allowed One Ways between provinces. No One Way rentals are allowed into the United States. Driving on roads that are not government-maintained voids the contract and the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) coverage. The customer will be fully responsible for any damage done to the car, up to full value of the vehicle.


9. FUEL POLICIES:
   Unless included in the tour product, National offers two fuel options:
   a.) A full tank of gas can be purchased at the time of rental. The Service is convenient because the renter does not have to worry about taking time to stop and refuel before returning the car (there is no credit for remaining fuel).
   b.) The vehicle is rented with a full tank and the renter is responsible for refueling at the end of the rental. National provides refueling service at the time of return for one-stop, one receipt convenience.
   


10. TAXES AND FEES:
    Unless otherwise stated, rates do not include any governmentally (Federal, Province, County or City) imposed or authorized taxes or fees, or any airport fees or airport concession recoupment fees, which may apply and are the responsibility of the renter.


11. ONE WAY RENTALS:
    One Way rentals must be booked in advance and are subject to availability. Drop-off charges may apply, payable at the time of rental.


12. METHODS OF PAYMENT:
    Credit cards – National accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express.


13. IDENTIFICIATION (ID) REQUIRED FOR RENTAL:
    Full and valid driver’s license from country of origin, passport and credit card in renter’s name.


14. LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER (LDW):
    National offers LDW, at an additional cost, paid locally at the time of rental by the customer.
    
    LDW eliminates or reduces the renters’ financial responsibility for loss or damage to the rental vehicle when LDW is accepted and paid for at the time of rental.
    
    LDW is null and void if damage to or loss of vehicle results from driving on unpaved roads.
    Rates vary and deductible will apply.
    
    LDW is mandatory for renters under the age of 21 at the following locations:
    Grande Prairie, AB; Dawson Creek, BC; Ft. St. John, BC; Ft. Nelson, BC; Peace River, AB; and Whitecourt, AlB


15. PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE (PAI) / PERSONAL EFFECTS COVERAGE (PEC):
    National offers PAI/PEC to the renter of the vehicle for the entire period of the rental and for its occupants while they are entering, occupying or leaving the car. It also provides coverage for the personal property effects owned by the renter and immediate family members who permanently reside with the renter and business associates, provided they are traveling with the renter. In Canada, the PAI/PEC is offered at the counter.


16. PEACE OF MIND (POM)
    National offers POM at select locations, which allows the renter to avoid out-of-pocket expense for damage to or loss of the rental vehicle. POM is offered to renters who are at least twenty-five (25) years of age. POM is available at airport and select downtown locations only. Rates are available at the time of rental.


17. ADDITIONAL ITEMS:
    Roof racks or ski racks – Mini Vans and Sport Utility Vehicles may come equipped with roof or ski racks. Please request at the time of booking, if available. These are only available at the Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal locations. Ski racks are $7.50 CAD per day.
    “Winterized” cars - Cars can be “winterized.” A “winterized” car includes a snow brush/ice scraper, a block heater (select locations) and a ski rack. Request at the time of reservation. Maps - Maps of the local area are available, free of charge.


18. OVERSTAY FEE:
    If a customer extends the rental any time after the vehicle has been picked up at the rental location, a fee per day will be assessed in addition to the applicable rates. These fees will be payable by the customer.


19. GPS (GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM)
    GPS navigational systems are available at an additional cost per day and are subject to availability.


20. GRACE PERIOD
    National offers a 29-minute grace period on all rentals. If a customer extends the rental any time after the vehicle has been picked up at the rental location, an overstay fee, as described above, will be accessed.


21. RESERVATION REQUIRMENTS
    The following information is required at the time of reservation for all Vouchers and E-Vouchers: Voucher ID Number, Number of Voucher days and car type. The number of voucher days and car type on the reservation will be the values used to bill the client.


22. MILEAGE
    Rentals commencing in Jasper will include 100 free kilometres per day/700 free kilometres per week.
    Rentals commencing in Whitehorse & Brockville will include 200 free kilometres per day/1,400 free kilometres per week.
    Rentals commencing in London will include 300 free kilometres per day/2,100 free kilometres per week.

2. MINIMUM AGE
   Twenty-one (21) years of age, except where state law provides otherwise.


3. AGE RESTRICTIONS
   In the State of New York, the minimum age is eighteen (18) years. For renters and authorized drivers age eighteen through twenty four (18-24), inclusive, an insurance recovery fee of $49.37 per day applies in lieu of an Underage Driver Fee.


4. UNDERAGE FEE
   In all states, an underage fee of twenty-five dollars ($25) per day, per driver will apply to renters and additional drivers age twenty-one through twenty-four (21-24), unless otherwise stated. Certain locations may restrict specialty car types for underage renters.


5. ADDITIONAL DRIVER FEE
   A fee per day, per additional driver will be charged, except where state law provides otherwise. Additional drivers may be required to present a valid license and credit card in their name at the time of rental (at Manhattan locations, additional driver must present a valid credit card and valid license in their name).


6. INFANT SEAT
   A fee of $6.99 per day, per infant seat will be charged. Infants seats should be requested at the time of reservation. In the event the infant seat is not returned at the end of the rental, a fee will be assessed to the renter.

   National offers two fuel options:

10. TAXES AND FEES
    Unless otherwise stated, taxes, including VLF taxes in California, other governmentally authorized or imposed surcharges, concession recoupment fees, airport & facility fees and optional items (such as LDW, fuel, additional driver fee and drop charges) are extra. Concession recoupment fees may add up to 16% to the rental rate at some on-airport locations. Airport fees may add up to 12% to the rental rate at some off-airport locations. Payment for all of these additional items is the responsibility of the customer, unless otherwise specified on the rate sheets.


11. ONE WAY RENTALS
    All One Way rentals must be booked in advance and are subject to availability. Drop-off charges apply, payable at the time of rental. Members must call National 1-800-CAR-RENTAL® (1-800-227-7368) at time of reservations to obtain the applicable one-way fee charges and taxes, if one-way rental is available for the selected pick-up/drop-off locations. One way rentals are not allowed into the United States.


12. IDENTIFICIATION REQUIRED FOR RENTAL
    Full and valid driver’s license from country of origin, passport and credit card in renter’s name.


13. LOSS DAMAGE WAIVER (LDW)
    National offers LDW, at an additional cost, paid locally at the time of rental by the customer.
    LDW eliminates or reduces the renters’ financial responsibility for loss or damage to the rental vehicle when LDW is accepted and paid for at the time of rental.
    LDW is null and void if damage to or loss of vehicle results from driving on unpaved roads.
    Check your auto policy and/or credit card agreement for rental vehicle coverage.


14. SUPPLEMENTAL LIABILITY INSURANCE (SLI):
    Supplemental Liability Insurance provides primary protection for liability claims against the renter and authorized drivers for injury/death or property damage. SLI provides liability protection up to $1,000,000 USD, minimizing the risk to the renter's personal assets. It is also primary over any other insurance the renter might have. SLI is subject to the terms and conditions of the rental contract and the applicable policy and may not be available in all areas.


15. CAREFREE PERSONAL PROTECTION (CPP)
    National offers the purchase of optional CPP at a price of $7.99, which provides emergency medical care and transportation for the renter and authorized drivers in case of an accident any time during the rental. This includes payment if you are unable to work as a result of an accident while in the National rental vehicle. CPP benefits are also paid to passengers and even for possessions in the rental vehicles in cases involving accidental injury or loss. CPP provides the renter with 24-hour access to a wide range of professional, multilingual travel services via a toll-free telephone number. This includes help with replacing lost or stolen travel documents, filing claims, accessing emergency cash, communicating messages and much more. CPP may not be available in some locations.


16. OVERSTAY FEE
    If a customer extends the rental any time after the vehicle has been picked up at the rental location, a fee per day will be assessed in addition to the applicable rates. These fees will be payable by the customer.


17. GPS (GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM)
    GPS navigational systems are available at an additional cost per day and are subject to availability.
